| As we approach the
2010 election, I am again humbled to be leading
the great residents of the City of Wentzville.
The past few years have been filled with excitement
and amazement to see Wentzville being formed into
a great community to live, work, shop and raise
a family.
We have grown from a population of 6900 to over
26,000 in just 9 years. When asking the many new
citizens why they chose Wentzville as their home,
I receive comments ranging from “the city
is growing into the type city we were looking
for”, “it seems like a great place
to raise a family”, “Wentzville has
been recognized as the upcoming community in St.
Charles county” to “it’s just
a great community”. Whatever the reason
you are here, we are happy to have you.
My vision of a great community is being recognized
as the vision of so many of the residents of Wentzville;
but just as importantly, we are now being recognized
as the community being sought after. We have had
two such recognitions just within the last few
years.
The first recognition came from Expansion
Solutions where Wentzville received one
of the Top 5 Awards of Excellence. Expansion
Solution recognizes communities which
has made exceptional positive progress in the
economic development arena by successfully recruiting
and retaining businesses.
Money Magazine recently recognized Wentzville
as "Boomtown USA" and on January 8,
2008, Gadberry Group announced
Wentzville as being selected for the ‘7
in 2007’ most notable areas in the United
States. Only seven cities in the United Stated
were named in this report. Gadberry Group
is a Location Intelligence Firm that places the
spotlight on the “place to be”.
These recognitions of Wentzville impacts retailers
and businesses to investigate the possibility
of becoming a “part” of Wentzville.
As we attract these businesses to our community,
we become a destination for neighboring communities,
which in turn makes us continue to prosper. It
is with great pleasure to be able to state that
in the past six years, 465 new businesses have
opened their doors in Wentzville and have given
the opportunity to employ over 5000 people.
I have been personally responsible for increasing
the park land by 109 acres these past six years;
bringing our total park areas to 262 acres. Although
many acres have not been developed into the ball
fields, soccer fields and picnic grounds that
I envision with them, this is and will be a top
priority in my upcoming term as your Mayor.
I believe in an open-door policy and invite you
to write, call or visit me with any suggestions,
concerns or comments.
Sincerely,
Paul Lambi
Mayor of the City of Wentzville
